Dr Emma Salazar

Director of Clinical Services and Doctor of Psychological Therapies

Dr Salazar has recovered from an eating disorder and is immensely passionate about supporting others on their journey of recovery.
From the start of her recovery journey, her goal was to have a clinical leadership role in an eating disorder service and she’s thrilled to be living that dream as a reality!
Dr Salazar has a particular interest in research and developments in the eating disorder field for people who are queer or neurodiverse.
She has a doctorate in psychological therapies; for her thesis she developed an app to support people in eating disorder recovery and also conducted qualitative research on how people maintain recovery long-term.
She comes to ABBI with three years’ experience as the clinical lead of Stockport adult community eating disorder service, having worked as an eating disorder therapist and lead at a drug and alcohol service previously.
In her free time, she loves painting, knitting and walking in the Peak District.
