Dr Sharma has over 20 years’ experience in the field of eating disorders. Following training in London, she worked as a Consultant Psychiatrist on an inpatient eating disorder unit for 18 years. She was appointed national clinical director for Priory eating disorder services while in this role.
She sits on the Faculty of Eating Disorders at the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is involved in developing national policy. She is currently involved in updating the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ review of service provision nationally.
She has an interest in updating and adapting evidence based treatments and has been part of several national working groups including part of the original group who produced the Management of Medical Emergencies In Eating Disorder (MEED) guidance. Her passion for providing treatment based outside of hospital has motivated her development of day and outpatient services at ABBI.
She has a keen interest in working closely with experts with lived experience of an eating disorder to jointly produce treatment pathways at ABBI Clinic.
