What is ABBI hybrid treatment?

ABBI Hybrid treatment brings together the structure and personal connection of in-person care with the accessibility and convenience of online sessions. Rather than committing to a treatment approach that is entirely one or the other, hybrid treatment allows your care to be delivered in the way that suits you best, with the balance of in-person and online attendance determined by your clinical needs, your location, and your personal circumstances.

Your treatment plan is developed following a thorough individual assessment and will draw on the full range of ABBI’s clinical expertise, including individual therapy, group therapy, family therapy, dietitian support, psychiatry, and nursing.

Some elements of your treatment may work especially well in person, while others can be delivered just as effectively online. Your team will work with you to find the right balance and will review this regularly as your recovery progresses.

Hybrid treatment is particularly well-suited to people who live some distance from our clinics and cannot attend in person for every session, those who have work, study, or caring responsibilities that make a fully in-person schedule difficult to sustain, and those who find a combination of clinical settings supports their engagement with treatment over time.

The clinical quality of hybrid treatment is identical to fully in-person care. What changes is the flexibility of how and where that care is delivered.

Dr Sonu Sharma

Consultant Psychiatrist and Medical Director

“The hybrid model has made a real difference for patients who want to engage with specialist treatment but face practical barriers to attending in person every week.

Being able to come in for certain sessions while accessing others from home means people can commit to treatment in a sustained way that simply would not have been possible otherwise.

We find that engagement and consistency hold up well, and that patients value having the choice.”

How does ABBI Hybrid treatment work in practice?

Your hybrid treatment plan is developed individually following your initial assessment. Together with your clinical team, you will agree on which sessions and elements of your treatment will take place in person at one of our clinics and which will be delivered via video. This balance can be adjusted over time as your needs and circumstances change.

Is the clinical quality of hybrid treatment the same as fully in-person care?

Yes. The clinical expertise, the team, and the standard of your care are exactly the same across all three of our delivery models. Hybrid treatment simply provides greater flexibility in how that care reaches you.

Can I start with hybrid treatment and move to fully in-person or fully online later?

Absolutely. The way your treatment is delivered can change as your recovery progresses or as your circumstances shift. If you begin with a hybrid model and later find that fully in-person or fully online attendance suits you better, we can adjust your plan accordingly without disrupting your care or your relationship with your team.

Is ABBI Hybrid treatment available for the Day Care programme as well as Outpatient?

Hybrid delivery is available across both of our treatment programmes. The specific combination of in-person and online attendance within a Day Care programme will depend on your clinical needs and will be agreed with your team following your assessment.

I live outside Manchester and Lancashire. Can I still access hybrid treatment?

Yes. Hybrid treatment is a good option for people who are not based close to our clinics but who would like to include some in-person sessions as part of their care. If attending our Manchester or Preston clinic is possible for some sessions but not all, a hybrid plan can be built around that.
